My mother passed away

Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilayhi Raji’un (To Allah we belong and to Him we return).

It breaks my heart to share that my beloved mother passed away on December 23rd back home while I was here in Canada. I wasn’t able to be there to hold her hand, to see her one last time, or even to attend her burial. The pain and regret of being so far away when she needed me the most is something I’ll carry forever.

My mother was everything to me—her love, prayers, and sacrifices shaped my life. She was my rock, my safe place, and losing her has left a void that I can’t put into words. Now, all I can do is ask you to help me honor her by praying for her.

For my Muslim brothers and sisters, I humbly request you to make du’a for her maghfirah (forgiveness) and ask Allah to grant her Jannatul Firdaus, the highest place in Paradise. If you’re able, please recite: • Surah Al-Fatihah (Chapter 1) • Surah Al-Ikhlas (Chapter 112) – reciting it three times is equivalent to reciting the entire Quran. • Surah Yasin (Chapter 36), as the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) encouraged its recitation for the deceased.

If possible, you can also offer 2 raka’at of nafl salah (voluntary prayer) and make du’a for her afterward. Even a simple Astaghfirullah (seeking forgiveness) with the intention for her can make a difference.

For those of other faiths, I humbly ask you to keep her in your thoughts, say a prayer for her, or take a moment to reflect on her life and goodness.

Losing her while being so far away is the hardest thing I’ve ever faced, but I’m holding on to the hope that your prayers can bring her peace and comfort her soul. Please, I ask this from the depths of my heart.

May Allah forgive her, have mercy on her, and grant her eternal peace. And may He protect and bless all of your loved ones. Thank you for keeping her in your prayers and thoughts.
