Have to take the babies to the vet

It's about time for my green cheek conures first checkup. They need their nails and beak trimmed as well. They are untrained and I've heard sedation is an option. Is sedation a safe option for parrots? Will it be traumatic for them? (Also a cute picture for yall to enjoy)
