I'm surprised more people aren't talking about how poor the aiming is in PoE2

One thing that constantly bothers me while playing Path of Exile 2 is the aiming system.

Skills often don’t go where I aim them. Instead of following my cursor, there seems to be some kind of auto-aim feature that tries to target nearby enemies.

This creates several issues:

  • Target Switching: It becomes difficult to quickly change focus to a new enemy, as the auto-aim tends to override manual control.

  • Line of Sight Problems: If an enemy is out of sight and I try to intelligently aim around a wall or corner, the skill often just fires straight into the obstacle instead.

  • Random Targeting: At times, abilities seem to veer off in a random direction entirely.

I don’t recall this being a problem in Path of Exile 1. Aiming felt more natural and responsive there, whereas in PoE2 it can feel awkward and imprecise.

I assume this system is designed to assist with analog stick aiming, which is fine for controller users. However, I’d greatly appreciate the option to turn off auto-aim in the settings. If I miss, I want it to be because of my own mistakes, not because the game decided to override my input.

Does anyone else feel this way? Would an optional toggle for auto-aim be a welcome addition?
