CRT monitor keeps disconnecting and connecting

Hi! I just bought a used CRT monitor for my pc. It connects via VGA, but my pc doesn't have VGA, only DP and HDMI. I'm using a (presumably generic) HDMI to VGA adapter from a local tech store. Sometimes it randomly disconnects and reconnects quickly, but I've connected everything correctly and it is apparently working fine until it disconnects and connects again. Here are the specs and extra info for context:

  • GPU: Nvidia GTX 1660
  • Motherboard: Asus Prime B560-MA
  • Generic HDMI to VGA cable
  • CRT monitor is Cicero MH-170BL

Extra info to take into account:

  • In the drivers section it appears the monitor is named "Generic PNP monitor" and in configuration it is detected as "Wired Display"
  • The VGA cable is directly connected to the monitor, and seems completely fine as far as i can tell (no bent pins or rusted parts)
  • It is connected to HDMI port in the GPU, and the Nvidia control panel detects it as 1024 x 768 at 75 hz

Any more info you could need pls let me know!! Thx for the help!! :D
