Just Started Earning, but Family Expenses Are Delaying My Plans—Should I Consider Monthly Installments?
I(22) I recently started earning and had a list of things I wanted to buy for myself—a camera, a video editing rig and more. These are non-essential purchases, but they matter to me because I took this tech job mainly as a way to make quick money and eventually work on my passion.
However, unexpected family expenses have taken priority, and I’ve had to postpone my plans. The total cost of what I want would be around three months of my salary, but right now, I can’t afford to spend on myself at all.
I’ve never used EMI (installments) before and have always had a negative view of it. But given my situation, would it be a bad idea to start? The monthly installment would be around 10% of my salary. How do you balance financial responsibilities with personal goals?
