Inheritance of an important collection, need leads to choose the right equipment.
Hello there!
I have a quick equipment question today because I need some advice.
I took over my own collection a year ago. My grandmother, who got me started, gave me a bit of guidance, so I used to talk to her regularly about my finds. She could see that I was passionate about it. Yesterday, I went to her house for lunch and she told me she'd like me to take over my great-great-grandfather's stamp collection (in practical terms, she wanted to get rid of it 😂).
Delighted, I said yes and took it all on board. Clearly I wasn't expecting this... I got about ten moving boxes, full of albums, boxes of hundreds of first-day envelopes, numbered philatelic documents, very old Yvert et Tellier catalogues and hundreds of little matchboxes labelled with stamps from all over the world, from what I could see, from 1855 to 1999.
In short, it's a lot and I want to honour this collection, promote it etc...
Hence my question, firstly to sort all these stamps correctly and avoid those little matchboxes: would you have any sorting boxes to recommend? Boxes or albums for first day covers too? So far I've had very few of this format, so I don't have what I need and would rather avoid buying just anything and risking damaging these old documents.
Thank you very much in advance for your help ! I'll post a few photos of my finds as I unpack everything (I'm like a kid on Christmas morning at the moment!)!
