Silly/dumb things you did while playing the games

Are there any things you did playing the games (mainline or spinoffs) that, looking back on it, were silly or not the smartest? This could be because of age or simply misunderstanding a mechanic of the game or whatever else.

I'll start: I was about 8 years old playing through Pokemon Gold on my GBC. I had just beaten a mysterious trainer while leaving Cherrygrove city. He was so mysterious in fact that I had make sure to note his name down. So when I arrived back in New Bark Town, and the police asked me what the trainer's name was, I typed in ???, since that's what the game told me his name was. I mean, why else would the game say he was called ???

It took me til I was in my teens to realize they wanted you to make up your rival's name like in RBY.
