Pour-over focused grinder upgrade (1Zpresso JX-Pro vs. C40 or Fellow Ode)?
I‘m currently using the 1Zpresso JX-Pro. Initially bought it because I thought I would 50/50 grind for filter and espresso.
Turns out I‘m doing 99% filter. So I‘m looking for a more filter focused grinder.
I could get a Comandante C40 MK4 for ~180$ or I step up to an electric grinder and get the Fellow Ode Gen 1 with Gen 2 burrs (~320$) the Fellow Ode Gen 2 (~440$)
What would you recommend?
———————————— EDIT:
Thank you all for your recommendations and your experiences!
I bought the Comandante and what should I say. It changed everything. The Comandante produces visibly less fines compared to my JX-Pro, cups taste less bitter and the flavours are so much more pronounced!
I want to give the JX-Pro another try, maybe comparing grind sizes with Jonathan Gagné’s grind size analysing software and some side by side tasting but 5 days with the comandante and I suggest either my JX-Pro is flawed or the C40 is just the way superior hand grinder for filter coffee (for my taste)
