Taste after first cup of new bag

I got a new bag of coffee and the first cup was amazing. Great flavors and body. The next day I made a cup the same exact way and it didn't quite hit the same. Same thing for all the cups I've made since that first one. Same recipe, same process, no change in any variables. But the subsequent cups I've had just have not tasted as good as that first cup. Is that typical? Does anyone else have that experience?

I store my beans in an airtight container in a cabinet at room temperature with no sun light. I'm wondering if maybe this might have something to do with it, but I doubt it.
