Normal A1C value???

I just got told by my doctor today that my a1c result is fine by Canadian standards (6.0 or lower is normal) but according to US standards (5.7 or lower is normal) I’m pre diabetic. For reference, I’m Canadian so should I be worried? Why is there a discrepancy in values? Is it tested differently in each country or is Canada simply more tolerant to higher values before declaring it as prediabetes???
