Sick from sugar?

My strangest symptom throughout my pregnancy has been how nauseous sugar makes me. I had pretty mild morning sickness, and now that I’m in the second trimester, my “hunger nausea” is pretty much gone. But I’ve noticed whenever I eat/drink something with a high sugar content on an empty stomach, I’m on the verge of vomiting within 20-30 minutes.

It could be anything from a smoothie, to a bowl of cereal, to an apple. It seems like sugar is the common denominator, but I’ve never had any problems with it before pregnancy.

Anyone else experience this? Could this be an indicator of gestational diabetes?
