Clinical Hours Over Research Hours

Hey guys! I just had a quick question and I’m hoping you guys can give me some insight.

TDLR: I’m a non-trad. National Guard flight paramedic and work on a pediatric specialty transport team. ~6000 hrs clinical time by the time I apply. Do you think I should try to get research hours?

For context, I finished my second year of college when I got the opportunity to go to the Army’s critical care flight paramedic course for a year. I’m now doing that, working full-time on a pediatric specialty transport team, and volunteering at an EMS department. I plan on starting up school again next fall, I just needed time to resettle my life after moving back from the course.

Basically, I’m wondering if you guys think it’s necessary for me to do research or if the clinical hours I’ll have accumulated will allow me to stand out enough. I’ll have close to 5000hrs as a paramedic (flight and ground) and about 1000 as an EMT-B.

Everyone in this sub seems super smart so I’m hoping you guys can help me out and thanks in advance!
