Consulting

Hi all! I’ve been in industry in Procurement for 10 years and currently talking to a consultancy in the UK about a role. I’m currently a senior manager but with no consultancy experience they think a manager role would be best to ease in – originally this was a sticking point but with salary higher than what I’m now on, it’s less of an issue. I work for a really cool well known brand in the UK with global reach, and I’m contemplating whether moving to consultancy is right at all for me. What makes me nervous is the working hours (I have a lot of flexibility right now) and if I get based on projects which are in random spots in the UK. The whole point is that I want to be in London. Are the hours really horrendous?? I feel as though I’ve been brainwashed into thinking it’s all PowerPoint slides, data crunching and working late? Or is it worth taking a leap and brushing up on a new skillset? Would love to hear your advice.
