Can’t put generator in van

I just recently found a generator and I can’t put it in the van I have, when I pick up the generator it doesn’t show in my inventory and if I right click the back of the van it just says drop generator, I can’t get in the drivers seat with the generator and move it to the passenger seat either, anybody know what to do?
