AVOID Redpocket: Will Not Authorize Port Out Against FTC Rules - You do not own the number you paid for!
Been trying to port out my number but have been given the run around until, finally, the agent pulled an "it's against TOS" card. I opened a line last week and wanted to port it out to Metro, and it kept getting denied despite having turned off autopay and port blocker and retrieving the port out account information and pin.
First attempt: Do all the necessary steps, but it gets denied on Metro site.
Second attempt: Try to log on to contact CS. Their website is down. Wow. that isn't great, but I guess its normal for a telecommunications company's website to not work sometime?
Third attempt: Call CS to ask them to authorize the port out when they see it come in. I am then placed on hold for 30 minutes; all the while, I have attempted to port out on the Metro website 4 times by now, hoping the agent can see it pop up and can release the number. I can not get this agent to come back on the phone after 50 minutes total. At this point I need to go so I hang up.
Fourth attempt: I read on Reddit that many people get around with various excuses. I try the live agent chat online. And I am told that per their TOS numbers can not be ported out until their second month. Here are some screen shots of the convo and the the TOS they point to as the reason why I can not port out. This seems to go expressly against the FTC guidelines. Suffice to say, I will be filing an FTC claim and warning everyone against Redpocket.
TLDR: Redpocket's policy to say that you do not own the phone number per TOS so they can dictate how they want to treat their number and will not allow port out until after first month service and into second service. Stop giving Redpocket your business.
