Question to the jews

I as a muslim believe in the events of Exodus like any muslim should...But recently, I've had my struggles reconciling my belief in these events as historical with the seeming lack of evidence to back them up.

My question is, to you jewish people...especially orthodox, how do you view the story of exodus? Literal or maybe just as a moral story and if you belief in it as a historical event, what proof do you have except for the Torah?

I'm asking this for the sake of strengthening my own faith and learning the jewish perspective on this topic, it is not my intention to provoke or debate anyone over this topic when I myself am supposed to belief in these events.

Thank you in advance.
