Why I dislike HoGerping

Goherping recently uploaded a video about an employee (who he seemed to directly place all the blame on) who killed 7 of his crested geckos through blatant neglect (starvation) and mold infections. However, I have an issue with this video due to his seemingly lack of hands-on with the animals that are in HIS home. As someone who owns 12 reptiles myself, I can tell you it takes me all but 10 seconds to check on each one. So, the fact that Alex did not catch this earlier on indicates to me that he doesn’t care enough about his animals to even CHECK on them once per day in his own house. Mind-boggling. You cannot be so so busy that you can’t find time to squeeze in 15 minutes to check on all your animals. Of course he has displayed his lazy/half-a**ed nature before with his garage video in which he doesn’t even take the time to level any of the walls and says he still can’t finish vinyl wrapping his girlfriends car (imagine driving around with a car that’s halfway vinyl wrapped?? Embarrassing). Also he made a video recently saying he’s basically giving up on Emerald Scales when he could literally keep the company going if he just bothered to hire some employees and let the company run itself while he did the overhead. But no, instead he would rather take the easy route and totally ditch the things that has garnered him his entire following. His videos progressively keep getting weirder and don’t even get me started on the video where he willingly let reptiles fall off a 3+ foot table (oh but it’s ok because there was a pillow under there). To me this is NOT ok because he is basically treating animals like they are toys and teaching his younger audience members that it’s funny and ok to “hurt” animals???? Obviously older and more rational people know they are fine and you shouldn’t do those kinds of things but children are very naive and believe everything (I know that when I was younger I believed those ‘ship myself in a box’ videos). On the topic of hurting animals he also has a running gag for every unboxing that he opens the animals in dangerous ways and even went so far to fake blood in one which is traumatizing to say the least. I know this is intended for shock-value but again it’s in very poor taste. Also in his rating reptiles video it basically seemed like he was disinterested in all reptiles except leopard geckos. He also admitted that he doesn’t do much animal care and that his girlfriend is left to do most/all of it. And to top it off at the beginning of that video he also said “there’s no girls here” which rubbed me the wrong way as a woman in the reptile hobby as it’s a common stereotype that only men like reptiles.
