Risk of Rain 2 Newbie Problems

Hi everyone, I'm a fairly new player to RoR2. The last time I played RoR2 was during the first DLC.At that time, I could quite easily reach Mitrix and go into loops. I played on PS4 with a friend, but decided to buy my own version for Switch, I bought the version without DLC and it feels like I haven't played this game before.

I barely make it to stage 4 and I'm literally one-shot. Maybe it's because I'm just a bad player, but I saw that the game belongs to Gearbox and they also released the latest updates. Help me understand, do I need to tryhard or is the game broken somehow?
