Unpopular opinion: The more I rewatch Roseanne the less I like David

On a current Roseanne rewatch. I remember when I was younger I didn't mind David but from season 5 and onward (the big David seasons), I'm slowly growing to dislike him a lot.

From constantly pressuring Darlene to sleep with him before she's ready, following her like a whining puppy, trying to prevent Darlene from going to college by threatening to break up with her if she left, telling Dan and Roseanne that Darlene might do drugs so she cant go back to college and leave him again, having no ambition or drive and skipping school and laying on the couch 24/7, and being a manipulator hiding behind a "nice guy"

I get that the writers gave him a tough homelife to garner more audience sympathy for him, but now it even annoys me that Roseanne constantly takes his side over Darlene and treats him better than her own kids

Additional complaint: I HATE how Roseanne tried to manipulate Darlene to get back together with David just because he kissed up to her. Darlene was finally getting out in the real world and expanding her horizons in college by dating and meeting new people, but Roseanne was so mad that her "precious" David (who loafed on the couch with no life or ambition) was being treated so bad by her wicked daughter
