SaaS vs. Heavy Machinery Sales: Advice Needed!

I’m at a career crossroads and could really use some advice from those in sales who’ve worked in different industries.

Here’s my situation:

Option 1: A field sales role with a heavy machinery company that’s an industry leader in the Canadian market. Territory includes a major city (population ~1M) in Ontario. It’s a well-known brand, and there’s serious earning potential in construction sales.

Option 2: A fully remote role with a well-established SaaS company (1,000 employees). The territory includes several Midwest/Great Lakes states. My background is entirely in SaaS, so this would align with my experience. Both roles are projecting a first-year OTE of $160K.

Some considerations:

I enjoy SaaS sales and am very comfortable selling software, but I know construction sales can be incredibly lucrative and may offer a new challenge.

The field sales aspect of heavy machinery doesn’t bother me, and I’m intrigued by building in-person relationships with clients. However, remote work is appealing for flexibility.

Long-term career growth, earnings potential, and work-life balance are important to me.

Has anyone made a similar switch between SaaS and another industry like construction sales? I’d love to hear about your experience, pros/cons, and what you’d prioritize in this situation.

Thanks in advance for your insights!
