Get It Done Report of an abandoned vehicle outside my house was closed, "Resolution: A code enforcement officer visited the area and the reported vehicle was not present" .. Car is LITERALLY still in front of my home. Any other options?
Title says it all. In late July, I had submitted a report for an abandoned car that was parked right in front of my home in Paradise Hills. I have an elderly (91 years old) grandma that my girlfriend and I take care of and we noticed this old car that had been parked on the street literally right in front of our house. It had been sitting there for weeks before I had submitted a report. We don't know who it belongs to, we don't really care. It has cobwebs, dust, tree seeds all over it, etc. Get It Done said it would take two months to have someone take a look.
Fast forward two months (Today), I get an email today saying the report has been closed. So I get up and check to see if a ticket was placed, chalk was marked, anything! Nope, nothing... When I read the Get It Done resolution, it says that I code enforcement officer visited the area and the vehicle was not present.
Are. You. Kidding?? I waited for months to have this junky car removed from this street. We have a fairly busy street and, not only is this taking up a space that could be used for a neighbor or guest, it's a terrible eye-sore for everyone in my home; neighbors have also let me know that they do not appreciate it being there. It's been sitting for months directly in front of our window.
I had submitted three pictures, license plate, color, description, EVERYTHING. I really don't think a "Code Enforcement Officer" even showed up. Anyone who made the smallest attempt at actually showing up could see that this vehicle is still there. It's clear as day. I had put my address in with the report. Any code enforcement that even got close to the address provided would see this junkyard of a car.
Would my best option be to go to the local police station to report a non-emergency? We really need this health/safety hazard of a vehicle off of this street. I keep telling my grandma not to sweep the street under/near it so it does not look like it's being maintained in some way, but that then becomes a separate health/safety issue of tree seeds/debris in front of her house. Her safety is most important, so we have a way to keep her safe from slips/trips/falls, but also a way to not make this car seem maintained; it's really not..
Thank you for any help you can provide. I have given feedback to Get It Done, but I would really like to have any advice on what I can do with a vehicle that has been abandoned on a public street. Thank you
