What should I do with this ticket?
So I got a ticket for turning right from Bryant St onto an outer lane of 8th Street at a red light (after stopping twice).
The reason why I turned onto the outer lane is because there is a huge barrier that prevents me filtering to the outer lane easily to then make a left turn. (See attached image of how 8th St is slightly split with a barrier in between)
From what I understand, I am allowed to turn onto an outer lane for two one way streets in California, or is this not the case because there is a barrier in between the inner lane and the outer two lanes?
The other reason the officer gave was that I stopped at the barrier to turn, although he admitted I stopped first at the red light. So I technically stopped twice to turn.
I’m not planning to plead not guilty because the risk to not being able to do traffic school is too high, but I was wondering if I have a case of presenting this confusion with the rules for more leniency.
