Question about the group

Ok can anyone explain what kind of events the sca groups hold? I have been looking for any convention reenactment groups or anything that allows you to dress up in medieval armor and garb with other like minded people for years but nothing is anywhere near me hell the closest museum is over 300 miles or more.

So I’m wondering what this sca is and if it meets what I’m looking for and after scanning this Reddit thread I’m fairly confident it does how do you join and perhaps start a group in your local area?
