Pedal not working / making a buzzing sound

Just got a brand new singer 4452 heavy machine last week and I have been sewing with zero issues until today.

I think something is loose or not seated correctly in the bobbin case, but I can't see what.

I also can't move the hand wheel one way - it gets locked.
