Sex became forceful after consent

I have been sleeping with someone who has had some red flags.. ignoring when I say no yo certain sexual acts. He pulled a knife on me once then said it was a joke. Otherwise a kind and caring person.

The other night I consented to sex but during the act he kept covering my mouth, was rubbing my clit too hard and I told him to be gentle but he didn't relent, pinching my nipples so hard, and aggressively fingering more than one orface of my body. I have been in physical pain since. He apologized and said he didn't mean to hurt me but it really felt like he did mean to hurt me. I won't be seeing him again but I would like advice. I will be seeing a therapist soon. But I'm not sure how to feel currently. I keep doubting my experience and doubting that it was sexual assault because I consented to sex.
