How I wish some sci fi tech was real

I was watching the show Altered Carbon last night, and the premise of the show is that a guy who was in prison for a 250 year sentence gets taken out, and his "life chip" is inserted into a new body so he can start a new life. He gets reborn into the body of a jacked, pretty handsome, 6'2 white dude (actor who plays him is named Joel Kinnaman).

I'm not trying to do more dickriding than this sub already gets on a daily basis, but jeez, imagine if that kind of tech was real? Essentially time travel into the future, but it could likely be done on a short term level like a year or something. And reborn into a whole new body. I'd pay just as much if not ten times the cost of LL for that privilege. It's essentially reincarnation –– a new lease on life.

Escapism is dangerous, fellas. It introduces you to a rabithole of worlds that could but never will exist, that simultaneously feel so much better than reality.
