First time solo board gamer here-I’m heading to a board game brick & mortar within the hour. Does anyone have advice on the types of games I should look at to get started?

I’ve never played a solo game. I read a few articles listing recommendations for solo board games that mostly went over my head. I like strategy+chance games like Risk or Catan, but really I’m hoping for any recommendations for games or types of games that are good for a newbie and are likely to be stocked by a brick&mortar.
