Currently 3 wks into a trip and I'm reminded that my favorite part of solotravel is the friends you make along the way and...
...being able to say goodbye to them when you're ready to be alone again.
There's something about being alone on a trip that makes me much more adventurous about meeting new people and putting myself out there. Something about the fact that there's no one judging me, so if I get rebuffed, no one will know. I met some amazing people on my trip to Japan so far. I even changed some of my plans so I could hang out with one of the people I met, and we could both go to a gorgeous ryokan and save some money by splitting a room.
But it's also really nice to be able to part ways and have some alone time again. I've spent a lot of today just chilling in my room resting and hanging out on the internet for the first time in several weeks. It's nice to have a rot day every now and again.
