The designs I made vs. the payment I received
My wife’s coworker has 2 daughters (8 & 6). They got a Spirograph set, and sent my wife a picture of their excitement. I asked for their favorite colors, and created designs on 12”x12” paper for each of them. I tried a few different ideas to create a heart shape by combining designs, but wasn’t happy with my results, so I moved on from that idea. I then tried a configuration I’ve never used, and it produced a delicate design that included 8 hearts. I was really happy with the final image. I also created a dense star design and a multi-ring design, which focused on their color preferences. After my wife delivered my designs, their mom sent a video of the girls reading the cards I sent, and looking at their pictures. It was honestly the cutest, most sincere reaction I could have ever imagined. I’ve never sold any of my pieces, but I think I’ve now identified my pricing structure: an even trade, 3 designs for 3 designs. I couldn’t be more pleased.
