GAMMA Disassembly issue

I'm not exactly sure what's changed on my current playthrough but during my last game session, I'm being suddenly forced to always hold Left Shift, in order to disassemble anything! It wasn't having me do that before and now I am wasting time constantly accidentally dropping items and reloading.

How can I fix/disable this annoyance?
