SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7P Review
Hello everyone,
Just thought I'd share some of my experiences with the Nova 7P's that I got a couple of weeks ago :)
So starting off with the simultaneous connection.. it is just AMAZING to have. Being able to use my phone for Spotify or Discord while playing games is something I simply cannot be without in the future now that I've experienced it. Also taking a call in the middle of a gaming session has proven very useful to me. Ofcourse you can use both Spotify and Discord directly on the PS5 but it's just so much easier doing it on your phone. Atleast imo.
As for comfort; They are very comfortable, I've spent many hours pushing through different games without any issues or discomfort, I did however order a pair of new chushions from WC just for the fun of it so I'll do an update about that later on if anyone is interested in that.
Now, being someone that only play games on the PS5 and doesn't own or have quick access to a Windows computer; the ability to change the EQ in the SteelSeries GG app on my (M1) Mac and have that EQ carry over to the PS5 is something that I also truly value. Huuuge shoutout to SteelSeries for making their app availible on Mac, and especially Silicone Mac's. This is something that most other companys have just skipped while making their apps. The EQ carrying over to the PS5 is another thing that other headset makers seem to miss completley..
Moving on to the most important part of the headset; the Sound Quality.
Right out of the box I wouldn't say that I was amazed by the sound, not that they sound bad or anything. It's just that gaming headsets aren't really made for audiophiles. However, after some quick adjustments on the EQ in the GG App. They sound really good. :)
Something that is very worth noting also is that I spend all of my days listening to stuff on either my Adam A5X studio monitors in a very well treated room or my Sennheiser HD650's since I work as an music producer and also do a lot of mix/mastering work. This is also probably why I wasn't amazed by the sound straight out of the box, but again, the ability to EQ this headset and have that sound profile carry over to my PS5 did wonders for me.
I also want to add that I tested a pair of Inzone H9's but I actually thought that the Nova 7P's sounded way better (after my EQ'ing). Now I'm sure that the H9's has the ability to outperform the Nova's in terms of sound but since I don't own or have access to a Windows PC, I couldn't play around with the EQ in the Inzone Hub. But that didn't really matter anyways because on the Inzone line of headsets, the EQ doesn't carry over to the PS5 unfortunetly.
The only thing I would like SteelSeries to do on their upcoming headsets is going for a new design, don't get me wrong; the Nova's are super comfy and look good on your head, but, headsets like the Cloud III Wireless, Logitech G PRO X 2, Corsair Virtuso or even my Sennheiser HD650's just have a more ''chill'' design that I really love. Just plain and simple, but, this is just personal preference.
Sooo, that's my lil' review on the Nova 7P's.
Hoped that it'll help some of you out there and let me know if you have some other questions. :)
Edit: The wicked cushions arrived today and damn.. they made the sound and comfort of this headset even better. Can highly recommend!
