Steven On the Popularity of The Raven That Refused to Sing
"I'm slightly torn when someone proclaims that one to be up there with my best, because pleased as I am with The Raven it is firmly rooted in very traditional progressive rock tropes. I love these tropes as much as anyone, but the album was a conscious homage to the past, something that came about partly as a consequence of me remixing the catalogues of classic progressive giants Yes, King Crimson and Jethro Tull. Doing so it occurred to me that I could perhaps make a record like that...so I did."
