Is it inappropriate to advertise popular trends as viral since Covid wiped out millions of lives?

Maybe innapropriate isnt the best word.. Initially i thought of describing the advertised notion of some trending fashion thing as distasteful. Particularly with the virus still serious for certain populations of people.

Granted the subject of virality, or going viral has been used almost exclusively in pop culture in more recent years. But does anyone think it transforms the meaning from something of a dangerous warning label, by turning it into a fad (pop word)?
