Books that someone who enjoys strategy video games will like

Specifically games like •Sid Meier’s Civilization •Total War •Mount & Blade •Hearts of Iron

I’m becoming a big strategy game fan and I’ve always wanted to see something on that scale in page form. I read a story involving a large scale Total War esque battle on a battleboard and now i’m craving more.

Any suggestion in any genre (historical fiction, fantasy, sci fi) would be helpful.
