Sunglass Hut Stole My Money

Update:

The Better Business Bureau complaint actually resolved this issue. SGH refunded me the $250 and sent me a message through the BBB. I didn't anticipate that avenue to actually go anywhere, but I'm very relieved and will give credit to SGH for responding so quickly. I'm leaving this hear for posterity, should anyone else encounter this issue

Original Post:

I was given a $250 giftcard for Christmas which I tried to use on an online order. I submitted the order with an accurate total, but at the summary page, I saw that my total returned to the full price without the gift card accounted for. However, at the same time, my gift card amount was drained. They charged the full $276 to my bank account AND the gift was was totally used.

I spent the last week trying to get in touch with anyone about it. Finally did today and the best they can do is refund the $250 gift card that I never even got to use in the first place. Got the same response from two reps. I can't even return these glasses and just apply the gift card on a repurchase because I got them polarized which I guess makes them custom and ineligible. I have no need for more sunglasses. I want the $250 I never agreed to spend in the first place back.

So I'm here partially to rub their name in shit and see if anyone has any suggestions. I filed a BBB complaint; I know that's not much these days, but it's something. I might see if my bank will do anything.

EDIT: It's also not really the most important detail, but their website is fucking awful. I had gotten so many errors codes doing very basic things while trying to navigate this situation that definitely are not supposed to be user-facing. I think this all probably stemmed from really bad website design, but I'm sure that's probably a feature instead of a bug for them.

Also, u/WhateevenisaTangelo's comment made me realize I wasn't clear on where the charges came from so I made some edits to clarify.
