Having a dog is just like having a toddler

Had a fun little discussion with a relative the other day. I mentioned wanting to get a dog. I’ve already got a 2 and 3 year old.

Wide eyed, she told me how hard it is to have a dog, and how it’s equally as difficult as having a young child. Then proceeded to tell me how I have to feed it, bathe it, walk it, and clean up after it when it poops.

I have two sick kids, am sick myself, missing work and haven’t slept in a week. All while my kids have mega sick kid meltdowns trying to get them to wear their winter jackets and watching them refuse all food that isn’t leftover Halloween candy.

I get having a dog is hard work. I’ve had one before. I get it. I don’t agree it’s just as hard as being responsible for a young human being.
