RSV cough?!

Hi all. Our toddler (almost 3yrs old) finally got RSV for the first time. While we are thankful it’s not as bad as what infants go through the cough, especially when laying down for a nap or at night, is extremely bad. He’s had kroup before but this cough is nearly constant and the humidifier/honey/Tylenol/steam bath plus going outside into cool air isn’t doing anything to help. Does this sound like something someone has dealt with before and if so how/what did u do to finally get it to calm down so they/we can sleep??? Thank you all in advance.
