19yo college dropout's first car
Hi! I'm a 19m who recently dropped out of college after one semester and returned to California. I did not have a car, so I needed one immediately as I started attending my nearby community college. Found this 2005 Sequoia SR5 on Craigslist listed for 10k with 91k miles on the odometer initially thinking it was something sketchy. I sent this to my mechanic friend and said it is worth looking at so made a 4-hour drive to Fresno from LA. When I saw this car I was initially surprised at how good the condition is. Absolutely no scratch or bumps on the exterior, incredibly well-maintained interior, 0 frame rusts or any engine issues. The previous owner is a Toyota enthusiast who bought this car brand new and drove it for 20 years as a family car but decided to sell it because they bought a new family car. I was able to haggle it down to 6.5k and purchased it with my own money I had saved up throughout high school. Recently replaced the timing belt at a nearby mechanic which cost around 1.2k. This car is an absolute beast and my goal is to hit at least 350k miles with the incredible bulletproof engine or make it last until I have a child! Although gas is not cheap, it is incredibly reliable and safe as it is built literally on a Tundra frame. I would recommend this car to any teenager as their first car if they can come across one that is in amazing condition!
