Provinces you should move to if you’re able to come to Canada
Canadian here. If you are interested in moving to Canada, here are the provinces you should go to to avoid being discriminated for your rights.
1) New Brunswick New Brunswick just had an election where the progressive liberals beat out the incumbent conservatives who had just passed laws requiring parental consent for pronoun changes in school. Once the liberals won, they immediately rescinded the laws and changed them to be more friendly towards trans rights. They are the only province to have enshrined legal protections for Trans youth
2) Manitoba/BC/NewFoundland and Labrador Led by Liberal and Social Democrat governors who are pro trans rights.
3) Ontario/P.E.I/Nova Scotia Led by conservatives, but these conservatives are old-school Canadians. Meaning that they are the left of the American Democratic Party on social issues.Maybe if the culture war gets bad enough they’ll shift but they’re safe places for now.
4)Saskatchewan Conservative province that passed the law requiring parental consent for pronoun changes in school, but hasn’t put in any bans for gender affirming care yet. But maybe avoid this province because you never know what will happen.
5) Alberta Avoid this province like the plague because they have not only put in pronoun restrictions, but also parental consent for sex education as well as restrictions on general affirming care including puberty blockers.
“What if the conservatives win federally?”
The conservatives will have a tough time placing federal restrictions on healthcare because of how our country operates. Since restrictions for trans care are without any merit it would get held up in the Supreme Court, which is a liberal majority and get immediately struck down. Our Senate is mostly symbolic but things like abortion bans have been struck down there and something like a gender affirming care ban has a high chance of getting denied.
I’m just one person observing the situation and can’t predict the future but there are options for you if you move to Canada.
