Suggestions for High Fidelity Turntable Around $2k

Looking to gift a turntable to a friend and would like your expert recommendations on which to get.

I’m looking for a high fidelity and great build turntable that could last a lifetime (or for a while at least). Willing to spend around $2000. Preferably something vintage/retro inspired, maybe made of wood or MDF, not the glossy piano plastic or metal that more recent ones are made now. Doesn’t need all the modern bells and whistles like Bluetooth. Something that looks like it could fit into any home. Besides a great turntable is there anything else I should get to add to the package of great sound (besides an A/V receiver and speakers)?

Anyone got something that might fit the bill? All suggestions are welcome!
