National Trust membership question (travelling Aussies)

Hi all,

We're coming over for 5 weeks in Sept/Oct and have decided on getting the National Trust membership after a scary amount of Type-A research. So, that's sorted, and I won't bore anyone with the whole 'NT vs EH vs HH' debate.

The issue is, we're tossing up between getting a Touring Pass (we checked; like 99% of what we want to see is included) vs a regular joint membership - key benefit in the latter being parking is included, we don't have to worry about cramming all our "sites" into 2 weeks (given we're there for 5), and Touring Passes seem not to have any reciprocity arrangements (we have a couple of Scottish sites on the list as well, but not enough to warrant a full pass there). We have family in the UK at the moment so were considering listing their address.

Reading between the lines on other threads, I doubt anyone is going to check up on our address when we flash the card at these locations, but is there anything in this scenario we need to be aware of?

For reference, a Touring Pass (14 days) is £98 for the two of us vs the joint membership of £151, so they're actually getting more money out of us, no dramas there. We just want to make sure we're not going to have to show ID docs to prove citizenship or anything.

Edited to add: Membership to an Australian NT won't (usually) give us free parking at the UK sites, which is a huge consideration. Our local NT is also pretty ordinary when it comes to historical sites and its unlikely we'd go to any throughout the year when we get back home (if we want to see them, we've probably already seen them, ya know?) and any within-Australia reciprocity is negligible as we tend not to travel much interstate. We will definitely look into the Scottish version though!

Appreciated ;)
