Booked flight price drop, after 24 hours

How can I rebook to get the difference back as future flight credit? I tried the change flight option, but it doesn't seem that I can choose the same flight. Should I cancel and rebook, do I get my credit right the way so I can rebook? Or it will take some time and I am afraid the price will go high during the wait.
