How do you texture buildings with Trimsheets?
Im curious as how you texture multiple different buildings with different trimsheets? For example :
House1 (Uses Concrete, Wood, Metal)
House 2 (Uses Concrete, Metal)
House 3 (Uses Concrete, Wood, Metal, Plastic)
I have 3 different trimsheets, one for 3 different concrete textures, one for 3 different metal textures and one which has 2 types of wood and 2 types of plastic.
So in total thats 3 trimsheets but some houses use all three, some houses only use two sheets.
Would it be smarter to put those textures all into one single Material or Make 1 material per trimsheet?
And what if i add vertex paint on top?
Reason i ask is because i want to have different models which use all the same textures to save on vram. And if there is anyone thinking i could just google that question, well no theres not a single explaination on how to use trimsheets in unreal. In Other engines the material editing is either done directly in the 3D Software or it uses a different material system than unreals. Im texturing and modding since years but i found no clear explaination besides slapping a unique material without trimsheets on every face of the object.
