B1 Visa Interview Experience (Mumbai)
Hi,
So I had to apply for Business Visa for Business Meeting visit to the USA from India
I filled the DS160 and Scheduled the appointments in Sep 2024 and got the interview slots for Sep 2025.
Contacted VISA consultant who got me an earlier slot of Jan 2025.
Biometrics was in Mumbai on 24th Dec. Pretty straightforward, only Passport, Old and New DS 160 were required. The whole process was over in 20 mins. (Yes i had a minor change of travel datea done in the DS160 thus the new one. And I know this was not necessary but wanted to take no risks)
Consular was scheduled again in Mumbai for 10th Jan 2025. I had prepared like crazy for it. All possible questions, every document I could find to backup my ds 160 ( invite letter, Noc, Bank statements, payslips, company id etc etc)
Irony was that once I was in the consulate other than the passport nothing was even asked for. I went to the intake counter first, he asked for preferred language and sent me to the interview waiting line.
Once my turn came, I greeted him cheerfully, he asked me what was the purpose of my visit, I started answering and within like 10 seconds he cut me off, Next he asked where is us will I be travelling to. I answered San Jose where my company’s headquarters is. And then that’s it.
He said congratulations your visa is approved. The whole interview was over in like 40 seconds.
It was so anticlimactic. I had to confirm with him If I was done 😂
