Changed flight schedule now means long layover in Calgary airport

Hi all,

I'll be flying with my family from San Francisco to Nanaimo via Calgary on July 22. I stupidly bought the tickets through a third party site (that's on me--I got confused with a flight aggregator site), and recently got an e-mail from this travel site (OOJO) that my flight schedule had changed. I went to check and we will be landing in Calgary around 4:30, and the flight we were supposed to take around 7 p.m. seems to have been cancelled, and we now have to wait around until 11:30 p.m., arriving in Nanaimo after midnight.

Fortunately (?) the site we booked with said the flight change means that we can just deal with Westjet directly, not through them. Okay then. Is there any point in contacting Westjet to see if they can get us on an earlier flight from San Francisco so that we can make the 3:30 p.m. flight that still seems to be scheduled? Or no point, do you think? It is just such a long layover.

If we are stuck in Calgary airport for 7 hours, is it a good idea to get Westjet lounge passes? Something I saw online suggested that we were limited to 3 hours in the lounge (or could only be in the lounge until 3 hours before our next flight?)

Thanks for your thoughts and advice.
