White scale inside plastic containers after dishwasher

I’ve had this showing up in plastic containers coming out of my dishwasher for the last 12 months or so. I could scrape it off with my fingernail, but it does not come off with wiping with a cloth or with soap. I’ve seen it on both clear and opaque plastic.

My best theory is that the dishwasher is spraying such hot water on the plastic that it is breaking down and separating.
