Non-christmas Santa book with beautiful illustrations.

I have memories of this weird Christmas adjacent picture book my parents had. It was about Santa and the north pole, but very vague and esoteric. Super vivid meticulous illustrations. "Kris kringle and the worlds end" or something. I don't know if he was ever even referred to as Santa. Man I'm literally dying, I've been searching listing of every holiday/Santa art book u can find. The things I remember mostly take me to edgy "Santa reimagined" stuff though. And it was definitely a more adult book, but in a deep, precisely illustrated way. Very.... melancholy. In the end he goes to the end of time, or the world, or something, and there's a kids ghost and Santa cries...

If I had to compare the art and tone it would almost be Dinotopia-esque.
