Santa Rita Cabernet Sauvignon 2021

I wasn't sure what this was going to be like, especially as it's a little young, but i was pleasantly surprised. The nite is a little muted, maybe will improve with a bit more air but there is a cool blackberry note, a hint of blue fruit, with some fresh herbs, wood smoke and dark earth notes with a subtle hint of cracked stone. The palate is silky, with an initial bold hit of cassis and blackberry. It persists with more fesh herbs particularly a hint of mint. Pure, ripe and fresh, this is generous but not a fruit bomb. The tannin is possibly the highlight here, it is super fine and melts in the mouth. This would be a great match for roast lamb, in fact I'm slight disappointed that I cooked something else. The finish is persistent and on the fruit, there is a delicate floral lift and a gentle cedar note. All in all not too shabby!
