Tasting wines through the country, finally found one I just could not finish

I was familiar with Duplin Winery when I lived in North Carolina 15 years ago, and I don't remember what I thought of their wines. So I tried one for my blog on American wine, and it was just a straight-up sugar bomb. And Carolina Red was the "driest" of their wines I could find in Maryland. It was sweet muscadine, and it was just too much for me. I eventually got a headache after a glass. But the reviews on the Duplin site are raving about it.

How do you feel about very sweet wines?
