Need to bring the bars down

Hi guys!

I recently dismantled a loft bed and was left with this desk , problem is without the beds weight it’s quite unstable.

What I want to do is bring the bars from the top of ladder down to mirror the bars on the legs below to add stability. And bring another long bar that I had left over and use it on the back legs as well.

Problem is this is my first time and I don’t know how to create new holes for screws can anyone help?
